Their first appearance at a basketball game was on November 17,2022 the first varsity home game against Santana. The Royal Rattlers have only performed at school pep rallies until now.

“We wanted to bring some new excitment and hype to the basketball games,” Step team Secretary Ayla Jones stated. “Bring a different type of excitment and fun to the games that the school possibly hasn’t seen before.”

Step team was started during the 2021-2022 school year by former students Jasmine Jones, Sydney Edwards, and Jordann Coulture. It’s now being led by President Jala Thomas, Vice-president Isaiah King, and Secretary Ayla Jones.

“After seeing how much joy Step Team brought to those at school we wanted to carry it on for people to still enjoy and even more people to get involved in”, Jones explained. “Hopefully even after the current leaders move on others will step up and continue the team.”

Those attending basketball games who want to see the Royal Rattlers in action can expect the team at the remaining home boys varsity games of the 2022-2023 basketball season.
