Caitlin Clark broke the scoring record, what’s next?

Caitlin Clark, 22 year old Guard from Des Moines, Iowa, just broke the scoring record and now has 3,569 career points at the University of Iowa. Clark beat the record that was set in 2017 by Kelsey Plum from Washington and since then, no one has broken the record. But this may be the first of few records Clark breaks in her college career.

Although the college season ends on April 7th, after March Madness, that won’t stop Clark from breaking more records. She just broke another record which was the single-game scoring record at the University of Iowa with 49 total points on the 15th against Michigan.

At the moment, Clark is 1st in points per game and assists per game amongst all of women’s college basketball. She also is only 99 points away from being the all-time leader in both mens and womens college basketball, if that is the case she will break the 54 year record, which is owned by “Pistol” Pete Maravich.

Along with these stats, throughout her collegiate career Clark has more than 450 3 pointers, and many of them have been hit from distances that were previously unattempted in women’s college basketball.

To break the record on February 15th, Clark hit a record breaking 35 ft 3 pointer from the logo just minutes into the game. Now, WNBA legend Sue Bird, is making a prediction that Clark will make the WNBA All-Star team as a rookie if she decides to go pro after her senior season. If not, Clark will set a record that will probably last a very long time.

Caitlin Clark will forever be a NCAA Women’s College Basketball great.
