English and History teacher, Mr. Snedden, is known around the Canyon Hills campus as a funny and personable teacher.
John Snedden, more popularly known as Mr. Snedden, grew up in Buffalo, New York, but he found his home in San Diego by going to both San Diego State and UC San Diego.
He did not originally go to school with the intention of teaching but decided to when he was in charge of the newcomers at his job.
“I did a lot of hiring and firing,” teacher Mr. Snedden said. “People I’m hiring seemed to be lacking a lot of things.”

Mr. Snedden decided to go into education because he wanted to make sure that his students had the correct skills to succeed in the world, not only for the employer’s sake but for the students.
In his classroom, above the door is a sign that says ‘XOXO, Learning.’
Snedden believes this to be his motto when talking about his teaching philosophy, but on a deeper level, it all goes back to the student.
“Process over product; if you have a repeatable process, you can have repeated success.” Snedden says.
This has seemed to do numbers for him when it comes to people’s opinions of him because almost every day at lunch his classroom is full.
The students at Canyon Hills High School love being in Mr. Snedden’s classroom because of its comfortable environment and atmosphere.
“I like Mr. Snedden because he has an opinion on many things, which is eye-opening because it gives me multiple perspectives.” student Sadie Smith tells us.
Mr. Snedden has gained lots of attraction over the years at Canyon Hills for his cheerful demeanor and love for his job and students. He has continuously shown his passion for teaching and making the students the best they can be.
