Spotlight on…Weightlifting Club

The Weightlifting club is an after school club that meets together Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The club’s purpose is to get people into the weight room and allow them to start working out in a peaceful environment.

In charge of the club is Paul Runge, the English teacher for the seniors. The president of the club, Eduardo Morales, is in the position of frequently helping out with the equipment and showing up more often than not.

Recently, the schedule has been extremely inconsistent because of; holidays, other teams using the weight room, and midterms. There are some weeks where the days are changed from Mondays and Tuesdays to Thursdays and Fridays.

As of late, we have started seeing more and more people attend weightlifting clubs after school. Jason Heller, treasurer of the weightlifting club, stated, “Going to the weight room after school is a good way to let off some stress and it’s fun.”

Weightlifting club is a great way to get some exercise and get to socialize with new people. We’re still setting up new equipment, so there will be more activities soon. So we’re looking forward to having more people.
