Senior Night for women’s volleyball caps off a winning season
Thursday night Canyon hills high school went against Morse high winning three straight sets of volleyball for Senior Night.
Eight graduating seniors – Bella Sharp, Sophia Gogue, Haley Harville, Stephanie Schafstall, Amanda Halac, Jasmine Sy, and Kaitlyn Oden – were honored at the ceremony after the game.
The energy in the packed gym was high with everyone on the bleachers sitting shoulder to shoulder and the almost deafening cheers of the crowd with each point scored. The girls capped off an excellent season with an amazing game. The pride in the gym was evident as was the sadness at losing some talented players.
“I will definitely miss the seniors the most about volleyball. I won’t have any mentors to look up to, as next year I will be the top class.” JV player Julia Dumont said. “I will especially miss Kaitlyn Oden because of her kindness, composure, and amazing skill.”
“The team played really good together and have had an amazing season with 18 wins and 10 loses,” Coach Taylor said.
“This season we faced a lot of adversity with injuries and sickness, but we’re able to rise up against it as a team. We fought really hard all season and were league champions and seeded in the top half for playoffs. We have a lot of seniors that helped lead this team to a successful season!”
