Earlier this month, Canyon Hills’ Chronicles and the AVID class took a field trip to San Diego’s SeaWorld for an end-of-year celebration.
When we arrived, we were given the freedom to roam free and explore the park to our heart’s desire, and throughout the day the many people split up into smaller groups, leaving everyone with a slightly different perspective.

Our class was met with the many attractions it has to offer, Highlighting not only the sea life, shows, rides, and good food, but the memories we made with our classmates as well.
One of the memories our friend, Ethan Fune, made was the signature pizza the park has to give.
“The pizza was busting,” He told us during our interview with him (whatever that means).
When first entering the park, you’re greeted with small pools containing fish and tiger sharks that you can reach in to touch and experience the sea, as well as gift shops and concession stands. The entrance can be quite packed, so be wary of the lines it can get confusing, but for most of us it went pretty smoothly.
Once inside the park, there’s so much to explore that I can’t even begin to describe all the things we were able to do, but what I can do is give you a couple of suggestions on what you should do if you decide to take a trip down to San Diego’s Seaworld.
First of all, besides the normal animal exhibits, we would recommend taking advantage of the free shows they have to offer, being able to see performances from all kinds of animals such as dolphins, orcas and sea lions. The fun atmosphere they leave the audience with is much worth it to go see, and they happen fairly often.

And while the main attraction of SeaWorld may be the animals and other sea life, we can’t forget to mention the rides! Whether you are a thrillseeker who enjoys roller coasters or someone who prefers calmer rides, San Diego’s SeaWorld has something for everyone. Some of our personal favorites would have to be the Manta, a fast-paced roller coaster that’s still fairly tame, the drops aren’t too bad, but the high speeds make it an enjoyable experience for both people who love roller coasters and people who may be too scared of the bigger ones.
Second of all is the Arctic Rescue, another fairly tame roller coaster similar to the Manta, but with a snowy arctic theme similar to the next ride up on our list, the Emperor.
The emperor is an extremely fast paced roller coaster with a straight-down drop and multiple loops, this one I would only recommend to people who know they can handle it, because it’s pretty exhilarating. But, if you’re into that kind of ride, I would also recommend the Electric Eel.
The Electric Eel is another fast-paced roller coaster, but it’s not on the same level as the Emperor, but it’s really fun and unique, going backwards, upside down, and sending you plunging towards the ground at the end. It’s super fun, but also pretty scary. If you’re up for it, I would definitely recommend checking it out, maybe even try it out as a first big roller coaster like our friend, Ethan Fune.
“When we went on that ride, electric eel, I was like scared as hell,” Ethan told us, “I wish I didn’t leave afterwards, cause it made me want to go on more rides.”
Overall, if you’re in the San Diego area, or plan on being in the future, all of us at Canyon Hills Chronicle would highly recommend taking a trip to SeaWorld if you have the time!
