The photography and graphic design classes of CHHS were given a chance to tour San Diego City College to preview potential classes and careers for their future.
Classes of all grades from different schools were taken on a field trip to San Diego City College during an event, giving them a chance to preview the classes they have.
This opportunity gives high school students the option to start thinking about colleges or majors earlier than they normally would, preparing them for their life ahead.
What is it?
Photo 360 is a small event hosted by San Diego City College to allow high school students to come onto their campus and go through the processes of their photography class and the separate divisions that go with it.
Senior Oliver Stewart trusts, “I imagine it going well, I don’t see how it could go wrong really.”
Trusting that the whole field trip and event would go smoothly was the majority’s opinion, with most looking forward to trying out the technology. Some students had some differing first ideas, such as junior Ariana Jennings, who said, “I’m most excited to see the campus, and what they have in store, or what different options they have for us.”
What the students see

The students are organized by school and given a schedule of activities ranging from learning light painting, how to develop papers in a dark room, and taking photos of models.
Describing her experience, Jennings states, “I’ve taken light pictures, and I’ve taken portraits of models and portraits of other people, and I’ve got to play with like strobe lights and other stuff. And there’s this cool light room where you get to make light portraits.”
Halfway through the event, students are treated to lunch before they continue, given a selection of different gourmet sandwiches.
Oliver describes, “It’s fine, I like the Tofu Bon Mi sandwich, it was really good. I like all the free stuff I got too, I got a lot of free stuff. And I took some really good pictures too.”
Why is Photo 360 so treasured?
The students taken to this event get hands-on experience with photography, learning more uses with cameras, film, and chemical slate and paper. All of these can be used in jobs or expanded on further in college.
Photo 360 is the perfect stepping stone for transitioning from high school into college or a career. With Everyone in attendance said they’d love to attend this event again.
