As early February rolls around, Canyon Hills High School’s lacrosse season starts again. Lacrosse is a spring sport that lasts until almost the end of the year. Tryouts took place on February 7th and lasted till the 14th. With some hard work that week, the team had a jamboree to prepare for the season. They played Carlsbad, Lincoln, and then Otay Ranch. The jamboree was a great learning experience for the new freshman and a good refresher for the returning players.
The official first game was a hard loss against Bonita Vista, but the team came back with an insane win against Olympian for their first home game. Olympian had an amazing first win and won their first game 15-4. The game was held on February 26 and it was quite an intense watch.

CHHS played Olympian in their first home game. It was an extremely close game that ended in a 9-9 tie after the 4th quarter. Which eventually led to three rounds of overtime and ended the game with a 10-9 score, with Canyon Hills as the winner.
“It was an intense game, but we had an amazing comeback. It was the longest overtime I’ve ever seen and I am so impressed with how we played”, Defender on CHHS lax team Tylee Sheriff.
Coach Dave has helped this team grow tremendously since the first game. The team’s growth and chemistry since just the start have been amazing. The team’s resilience against Olympian showed just how great they can be. Stay tuned for more CHHS lacrosse games and maybe they can even make it to CIF.
