In a celebration of talent, dedication, and years of hard work, three standout athletes at Canyon Hills High School have officially signed their athletic scholarship agreement National Signing Day, on November 13th, 2024. Each athlete’s signing marks the culmination of countless hours of training and academic dedication, showcasing their journey from high school stars to collegiate competitors.
Teah Savignano
Teah Savignano will take her field hockey skills to the next level at Central Michigan University, a Division I program located in Mount Pleasant, MI. She plans to major in Biology but more specifically becoming a Pre Physicians Assistant. Teah chose Central Michigan for a variety of reasons, one of them being the team environment. She met the girls and knew from that moment on that she wanted to be a part of that. Also during the recruiting process, the coaches were very supportive even though they weren’t even her coaches yet. On top of that, she knew that the coaches were going to push her to be the best version of herself at all times and that was something she couldn’t turn down.
Teah started playing field hockey in 6th grade, having never heard of the sport before. However, as soon as she picked up a stick, she instantly fell in love with it. She dedicated herself to extra training to improve her skills, and by 7th grade, Teah joined her current club, RUSH Field Hockey. Since then, she has been striving to play at the collegiate level. Teah believes that becoming a strong player requires not only physical skill but also a strong mindset. As a player, it’s important for her to experiment, learn from mistakes, and put in the hard work.
Hal’e Martin
Hal’e Martin is set to join the softball team at Trevecca Nazarene University, a Division II program located in Nashville, TN. She plans to major in Multimedia Journalism. She currently plays for Team San Diego 18u National DeBus, which is a nationally known team.
As a student-athlete, Hal’e has consistently pursued excellence both on and off the field. Throughout high school, she has dedicated herself to softball, playing primarily as a catcher while also contributing as a right fielder. These experiences have taught her the importance of teamwork, hard work, and consistency. Hal’e works daily to enhance her skills and softball IQ, constantly striving to improve in every area of the game. Balancing her academic commitments with athletics has developed her time management skills and reinforced the value of discipline and persistence. Hal’e’s family has played a key role in her success, encouraging her to remain focused and determined in all her endeavors. Their support has motivated her to set ambitious goals, including her dream of playing college softball while furthering her education. As she moves forward, Hal’e is committed to achieving her aspirations, confident that her dedication to both academics and athletics will help her succeed at the collegiate level.
Hal’e chose Trevecca because it has always felt like the perfect place for her. From the moment she met the coaches, she felt right at home. Their warmth and encouragement, along with the way the players welcomed her and treated her like family, showed her that Trevecca was where she belonged. Trevecca’s Christian environment also played a large role in her decision, as she wants her college experience to support her faith and values. Also with Nashville being her favorite city, full of opportunities in media and sports, she can’t imagine being anywhere else. She can’t wait to be a Lady Trojan and join this incredible community.
Addison Carr
Addison Carr will continue her volleyball career at Washington College, a Division III program located in Chestertown, MD. She plans to major in Early Childhood Education. Addison currently plays for the Wave Volleyball Club. Why Addison chose Washington College: Her parents are already moving to Maryland to follow her, and be there to support her every step of the way in this next chapter of her life, when she was on her official visit, the coaches were incredible, the environment of the team is something she knew she wanted to be part of. She knew from the second she stepped on campus that it was where she belonged.
As a student-athlete, Addison has consistently pursued excellence in all aspects of her life. During high school, she participated in various varsity sports, including volleyball and basketball, which taught her the importance of teamwork, discipline, and persistence. These experiences helped her develop a strong work ethic and a determination to succeed. Balancing a rigorous academic schedule, advanced classes, and athletics has taught Addison essential time management and prioritization skills. Managing these responsibilities has shown her the value of hard work and resilience—qualities that will benefit her in college and beyond.
Addison’s family has been a cornerstone of her success, instilling in her the importance of perseverance, humility, and a strong work ethic. Their unwavering support has inspired her to set ambitious goals and strive to achieve them. As she enters her collegiate career, Addison is eager to continue growing personally and academically while exploring her interests in the medical field. She is passionate about education and plans to pursue a degree in this area. While earning a college scholarship is a significant goal, Addison understands that achieving her dreams will require dedication and relentless effort, and she is fully committed to the journey ahead.
