Canyon Hills Seniors, class of 2025, are designing class merch this year. In past years ASB has just published designs for the classes, but they are doing it a little differently this year. ASB is partnering up with the Graphic Design ⅚ class to design multiple variations and leaving it up to a vote for the class. This is different from all the other years because it has never been voted on and is always distributed without a vote.
Why are Seniors changing their ways?
The ASB Senior Class President, Genesis Carachure has decided to leave the designs up to a vote for multiple reasons.
“I don’t want them to hate it, they are going to be the ones wearing it,” Carachure says.
She has seen in the past that other classes have complained about the class merch and she wanted them to have a say so that they will enjoy what they wear. This also helps fund the senior class and encourages them to buy the merch.
Behind the Scenes
She has partnered up with two students in the third year graphic design class to help with the designs. Although it is not always fun for them.
“There are no parameters which causes it to be a little difficult.” student Gabriel Vania states.
When designing them they had no guidelines that told them what to create, which causes some difficulty when
designing because they do not have any ideas of what to make. Although it has its perks.
“My favorite part about designing the class merch is seeing it on a mock up” Graphic Design student Lily Granadosin says.
The work can be really rewarding when it is finally finished. It may be a slow start but that is what makes it feel so much better when it is done.
It’s not done yet!
In the meantime, the class of 2025 students will vote on the ones they think are the best, and it will be a long process. They will systemize it like a bracket meaning that the class will have to vote multiple times, each time one or multiple will be eliminated until one is left standing.
