SDSU Makes it to NCAA Championships
San Diego State’s Men’s basketball team has had a historic season this year. The San Diego State Aztecs defeated the Florida Atlantic Owls from 72-71 on a buzzer-beater, which allowed them to advance to the NCAA Tournament Championship in Houston.
It was a back and forth game, and Matt Bradley led the team with 21 points, and Lamont Butler pulled off the win by hitting a midrange shot as the buzzer went off. They rallied from a 14-point second half deficit, the fifth biggest comeback in Final Four history. After their game with Florida, they’d face with the University of Connecticut which they had unfortunately lost.
Despite their loss, this is the farthest they’ve ever gotten with their men’s basketball team. The Aztecs had never advanced this far in their tournament appearances before this year. The closest SDSU has gotten to a national championship was in college football.
University of Connecticut topped off the season with bringing home their fifth national title, with their 76-59 victory over San Diego State.
